This is a PowToon video welcoming students and parents to my classroom. It is meant to be played at an Open House. PowToon is a great website because I can create fun, short videos without having to learn the coding that goes into creating an animation from scratch. Since Powtoon videos will be created by me, I can make sure that the video focuses on only what we are covering.
This is an instructional video I created using Windows Movie Maker about Mesopotamia (its language, math, science, religion, government), which touches on Indiana Standard 7.1.1. It is under three minutes long and will hopefully engage my students more than a 30 minute long textbook accompanying DVD might. I used my Mesopotamia video to create a video on EDPuzzle, a website that allows educators to add questions and comments into the video. While the original version is great for viewing, the EDPuzzle version puts in a new layer of formative assessment. I believe that it will encourage students to pay closer attention to the content they are watching. As a teacher, I can assign videos to students and see their answers, giving me a closer idea of what I need to better teach. |
